Laulima Giving Program
Helping Those in Need, All Throughout the Year!
The Families of 721 Umi Street were completely devastated when the water from the river next to their apartment building overflowed and poured into their apartments. The water started rising quickly and they had to run out of the building grabbing whatever they could until the storm passed and the water receded. For the owners of these units, the loss was complete. Every piece of clothing, appliances, personal possessions and furniture was destroyed. They are grateful to have gotten out safely, but the cleanup and getting their lives back to normal will be a long road.
Keiki o ka Aina partners with KHON2 to bring the Laulima Giving Program to assist struggling families, the elderly and individuals including children with special needs, families affected by incarceration and single parents through donations of goods, cash equivalents, enriching experiences and advocacy.
The Laulima Giving Program’s goal every year is to bring together communities, various agencies, businesses, schools and churches to “Laulima”, many hands working together, for the good of others, not just for Christmas season, but year round. In doing so, it is our hope that all served will know the joy of season through the kindness and generosity of their neighbors, and in turn they may one day be able to return the favor by blessing others when they are capable.
The Laulima Giving Program is a program of Keiki o ka Aina Family Learning Centers, a non-profit organization serving the needs of Hawaii’s families for 19 years.
